‘Italy can capitalise on Borneo Jazz for cross-promotion’
MIRI: The annual Borneo Jazz Festival is a potential platform that Italy can capitalise on in terms of promoting its culture to Sarawak.
According to Ambassador of Italy in Kuala Lumpur Cristiano Maggipinto, the culture of his home country encompasses not just music, but also food, wines and films.
“In this regard, our ( Italian) Embassy is willing to work together with Sarawak government in crosspromotion,” he said when met at a gathering on Sunday evening, which was held as a side event of the 13th Borneo Jazz Festival this year.
The gathering in Coco Cabana here was hosted by festival coorganisers Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Kuala Lumpur’s premier jazz club No Black Tie.
Maggipinto and Italian Trade Commissioner Samuele Porsia were greeted by STB events and corporate relations director Angelina Bateman and No Black Tie founder and festival director Evelyn Hii at the event, serving fine Italian wines and a showcase by Italian songstress Cecilia Brunori and her ‘Reverse Quartet’.
The guests were also treated to a series of performances by Beat Goes Bach and Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival 2018 winner Leon
