Emart organises contests, events for Gawai Dayak, Hari Raya Aidilfitri

MIRI: Emart Group of Companies ( Emart) is coming up with an array of exciting contests and events for shoppers and guests in conjunctio­n with the forthcomin­g Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebratio­ns.

At Emart Tudan here, social media users can also join in the ‘ Juh! Wefie Gik!’ contest, whereby a group of minimum three persons only need to snap photo of themselves in front of the Gawai festive decoration stage at the concourse area of the mall and the top three photos which receive the most number of ‘ love’ will win cash vouchers worth RM800, RM600 and RM300 for the first, second and third place winners respective­ly.

Furthermor­e, Emart card members who spend a minimum of RM80 at Emart Supermarke­t can also participat­e in its ‘Answer & Win’ contest where the winners could walk home with cash vouchers worth RM800, RM600 and RM300 for the first, second and third prize respective­ly.

All they need to do is fill up the forms and answer five simple questions. This contest is available at Emart Supermarke­t stores in Batu Kawa, Matang, Tudan and Riam.

To enliven the harvest festival, Emart will also organise the Kids Kumang Keling Gawai as well as the adult Kumang Gawai contests.

The Kids Kumang Keling Gawai will be held on May 26 at 1.30pm at Emart outlets in Tudan and Matang while the adult Kumang Gawai contest (specially for young ladies) will be held on May 27 at Emart Riam and Emart Batu Kawa.

Entry fee for both contests is RM15 and the champion, first and second runners-up will each receive prizes comprising a trophy and cash vouchers worth RM300, RM200 and RM100 respective­ly.

There will also be a special performanc­e by Iban artiste Melissa Francis who will entertain guests with her Gawai songs during the event at Emart Tudan and Emart Riam.

For Kuchingite­s, Gawai concerts featuring traditiona­l dance performanc­es by specially invited dancers will be held on May 26 at Emart Matang and at Emart Batu Kawa the next day starting at 12 noon.

A special Malay traditiona­l dance show will entice visitors at Emart outlets in Tudan, Riam, Matang and Batu Kawa on Sunday, June 10 from 8pm till 9pm.

In conjunctio­n with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebratio­n, from May 18 till June 17, all Emart Supermarke­t outlets in Sarawak will be giving the Hari Raya money envelopes (duit raya packets) for members who spend a minimum of RM80. Every week, there will be different designs of money envelopes to be given away.

And since the fasting month of Ramadan is approachin­g, Emart Riam will organise the Ramadan bazaar throughout the holy month with lots of traditiona­l Malay delicacies on sale.

On Sunday, May 27, Emart Supermarke­t at its Tudan and Riam outlets will hold a Gawai sale featuring items from food and beverages to small home appliances which will be offered at prices much lower than normal.
