-

MIRI: The development committee of Masjid Darul Istiqamah Kampung Luak here is hoping to raise RM2 million to fi nance the construction of an additional building at the mosque and also the purchase of some facilities.

Committee chairman Shaikh Naeemmuddin Shaikh Aminullah hopes that the public would help in this endeavour.

“Once the funds are enough and all the documentation as well as other processes are finalised, the construction of the new building next to the mosque would commence.

“The new building will be used to house the Quran and Islamic studies centre, an archive to place historical religious journals and Al- Quran copies, a rest area for elderly members of the congregation and also a place for the mosque officer.

“The added compound will also expand the existing parking area,” he told reporters after receiving the ‘wakaf’ certificate from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak ( TBS) officer Muammar Gadaffi Abdul Hadi at the mosque here recently.

In Islam, ‘ wakaf’ is a religious endowment – one that must be retained for the sole usage and benefit of the named beneficiaries, usually religious or charitable bodies.

In his remarks, Muammar said those who contributed to the ‘wakaf’ would ‘reap the benefits in the Hereafter’.

Those who wish to donate can contact Shaikh Naeemmuddin at 012- 6361305.
