Dr M meets government top brass

-

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad kicked off his first official government meeting in the federal administrative capital yesterday as he presided over a high-level meeting with the government top brass.

The meeting on the implementation of 10 promises in 100 days, attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, ministry secretaries-general and directorsgeneral, was held at the Perdana Leadership Foundation which houses Dr Mahathir’s office as the foundation’s honorary president.

Prior to the meeting, Dr Mahathir had a brief one- on- one meeting with Ali.

According to reports Sunday, Dr Mahathir said he would be meeting ministry secretaries- general to explain the functions and roles of the new government.

The Pakatan Harapan coalition led by Dr Mahathir formed the government after a stunning victory in the 14th General Election (GE14) that ended the 61-year rule of the Barisan Nasional ( BN).

Over 50 local and international media representatives had waited anxiously at the entrance of the premises as early as 7am.

At 9.10am as the vehicle carrying the prime minister approached the gates of the Perdana Leadership Foundation and the window screen was lowered, Dr Mahathir smiled to the crowd.
