Peace Pipe springs RM78 upset

KUCHING: Peace Pipe ( Roslan Bujang) stole the show in Race Three (Class III – 1000M) to give punters a handsome Mother’s Day ang pow on Sunday.

The nine-year-old put up a scenesteal­ing gallop to spring an upset in the field of six runners, paying a big dividend of RM78.

The W Stable’s racer was not expected to trouble the hot favourite newcomer King De Lago (Jasmi Kamar) but proved he was no push- over with a display of front-running prowess to run out a comfortabl­e winner.

Peace Pipe went to the winning post by a distance from King De Lago with Bintang Kilong (Mazlan Bujang) third, six lengths further back.

The winner is trained by Edmund Sim.

Dream Catcher II led all the way take out the Class One field in Race Five over 1000M.

The five-year- old made every post a winning one to finish a distance from Suaji ( M Abdul) with Monolita ( Maruf Wahab) a long third.

Dream Catcher II – the second leg of a double for the combinatio­n of W Stable, Edmund Sim and Roslan Bujang – paid RM14.

Bukan Lawan Nya ( Jasmi Kamar) snapped a long losing sequence with a popular comeback win in Race Four ( Class II – 1000M).

The eight-year- old found his right form when he produced two clean pairs of hooves to win by distance from Storm Raider (A Abul) with Rambo (Roslan Bujang) third, a distance further back.

Bukan Lawan Nya, owned by Beraya Stable and trained by Tamazi Putit, paid RM7.

Volcano erupted in Race Two (Class IV – 1000M) to give Jasmi Karmar a double for the day.

The three-year- old produced one boom of a gallop to score by a distance from Dash For Cash ( Hamid El li) with Big Chief ( Roslan Bujang) third, four lengths away.

Volcano, owned by Penny Stable and trained by Lee Moi Fong, paid RM12.

Lee also ended the meeting with a double by saddling the winner, Naga Laut, in Race One (Class V – 1000M).

The Penny Stable’s eight-yearold won by six lengths from Good Fortune ( Mazlan Bujang) to pay RM14.

Elturius (Amirzull Othman) was third, one length behind.

The going was yielding.
