MIRI: Miri member of parliament Dr Michael Teo is looking forward to a portfolio in the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) federal government.

Dr Teo said he has plans in mind for Miri, which would be solidified once Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announces his cabinet.

“The future is going to be bright for the nation. I myself have plans for Miri and we will see what portfolio I am going to get once the cabinet is fully formed,” he told reporters during a thanksgiving dinner on Monday.

“We know there are a lot of things that need to be done here such as water supply, the health services, squatter issues, and we are going straight ahead and tackle these problems as soon as possible.”

He pledged to live up to the expectation of voters.

Dr Teo added his office has also set up a service centre to cater to the public's complaints.

“I urge the public to come forward to tell us any problems and we will find the solution. We will listen to the people and will go to the ground as soon as possible to solve the problem,” he said.

Dr Mahathir had said a 10person cabinet would be set up first, followed by more ministries and deputy ministers.

He has announced that Parti PribumiBersatuMalaysiapresident Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be Home Minister, Democratic Action Party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng would be Finance Minister, and Parti Amanah Negar president Mohamad Sabu would serve as Defence Minister.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has been named as Deputy Prime Minister.

However, Dr Mahathir said on Monday that Lim must be cleared by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission before he can assume the position.
