Be wary in accepting opposition politicians into coalition — Perak Amanah

-

IPOH: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Perak has reminded the state Pakatan Harapan ( PH) to be wary in accepting the entry of opposition leaders especially from Umno into the coalition.

Perak Amanah vice-president, Dr Muhaimin Sulam said if such measures were not taken, it was feared that it would become a liability besides betraying the trust of the people who had voted for the PH to helm the government after the conclusion of the 14th General Election (GE14).

He said Amanah also feared that the approach was deliberately taken to gain power and for personal gain.

“Amanah itself is not merely a political party with integrity but a party that had arisen out of the destruction of public trust.

“The en masse entry should not lead to the collapse of the party and Perak Amanah will always be wary besides issuing a warning that any effort to betray the PH struggles would be totally opposed,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.

On Monday, the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Sungai Manik Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin together with 200 Umno members from various divisions in Perak declared that they had left Umno and joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( PPBM) which is a component party of PH.

They generally felt that the move was made after taking into account the current political environment in the country and to look after the interest of the constituents.

From the other perspective, he said, the entry of the Umno leadership en masse would be a big blow to the Perak Barisan Nasional ( BN) to transform and restructure the party. — Bernama
