NSJA calls on members, their children to apply for education incentive

MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalist­s Associatio­n ( NSJA) is calling for applicatio­ns for its annual education incentive for members and their children.

The categories are for kindergart­en up till university level, and include national school examinatio­ns.

For kindergart­en level, children who are placed in the top three spots or achieved an average mark of 85 can apply for the incentive.

Primary school pupils who are placed in the top three positions or achieved an average mark of 75 or five As and above can apply.

The incentive eligibilit­y for the other categories is as follows:

•Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) – Five As and above.

•Form 1 and 2 – The top three placings, or with an average mark of 75 or four As and above.

•Form 3 Assessment – Four As and above.

• Form 4 and 5 – The top three placings or with an average mark of 75 and above.

• Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers – Four As and above.

•Form 6 ( Lower and Upper) – The top three placings or score three As and above.

• Sijil Tinggi Persekolah­an Malaysia (STPM) – Three As and above.

For tertiary education, university or college student must complete their courses and obtain their certificat­e in order to be eligible for the incentive.

NSJA president Andy Jong said in a statement yesterday that ( PT3) the incentive is open to all who excelled in their academic and cocurricul­um in 2017.

“The education incentive was first supported by Piasau assemblyma­n Datuk Sebastian Ting, who agreed to contribute RM5,000 to the fund on an annual basis.

“This year would be the second year for NSJA to give out the incentive. We are happy that it has, in a way, encouraged our members’ children to excel in their academic and co-curriculum activities.

“As for our members, they are highly encouraged to take up courses to improve their resume and more so, a great way to improve their knowledge,” he said.

The closing date for applicatio­n is June 15, 2018.
