Pansar banks on availability of LPG in Miri for its air-conditioning system

MIRI: Pansar Company Sdn Bhd is banking on the availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) here to boost sales of the much soughtafter energy- saving YANMAR’s gas engine heat pump ( GHP) variable refrigerant flow ( VRF) air- conditioning system.

According to its sales engineer (marine and industrial) Goh Boon Yan, sales are picking up very fast in the city as the unit provides highefficiency heating and cooling for commercial buildings.

“Miri city is very lucky, being the only city in East Malaysia that enjoys piped-in natural gas and here, almost all commercial buildings have such facilities; thus making it very feasible to install this environment- friendly GHP VRF air- conditioning system. By using natural gas and reversible air- source technology, these world- class engines deliver low operating costs, reduce carbon dioxide emissions and use minimal electricity. It could save between 70 and 80 per cent of electricity in the long run,” Goh told The Borneo Post yesterday.

He was met during the oneday workshop conducted by Pansar here to promote the airconditioning system and Pansar in general.

Goh said so far in this city alone, some 50 units of the air conditioning system had been sold, mostly for shopping complexes, hotels and other commercial buildings, besides the residence of a local multi-billionaire.

Meanwhile, YANMAR’s Energy System Co Ltd sales specialist in overseas marketing and sales division Yuji Ikenishi said the GHP technology had been a preferred alternative to electric heat pumps ( EHP) for 30 years and received great demands – both in local and overseas markets.

“YANMAR is the top seller in Japan for this GHP technology air- conditioning, which is also in great demand overseas such as in the European countries as well as in South Korea, China and Malaysia, including Miri,” he said.

Yuji added that among other niches of the GHP units would be its ability to withstand some of the toughest temperatures that Mother Nature could deliver, and the ability to produce hot water as well – consequently, reducing overall operating cost down to over 80 per cent, depending on local utility cost.

Miri city is very lucky, being the only city in East Malaysia that enjoys piped-in natural gas and here, almost all commercial buildings have such facilities.

Yuji and YANMAR’s Energy System Co Ltd project manager (sales group) Shohei Fukuda were the speakers for the workshop.

Pansar regional manager (Sarawak) Tai Chu Ung, as well as senior officials Nicholas Lai Chan (assistant branch manager) and Albert Teng Lung Wui (technical special project manager – marine and industrial), present.

On the workshop attended by 47 relevant personnel and officials from both public and government agencies, Goh said it had dual strategies to promote the GHP technology air- conditioning system and also Pansar’s products and services. were also
