Pakatan Harapan now a registered political coalition

-

KUCHING: The Registrar of Societies ( RoS) has approved the application of Pakatan Harapan as a political coalition, which means its logo can be used in the next election, be it state or parliamentary polls.

A news portal showed the coalition’s certificate of registration that has been spread on social media to affi rm the matter. The portal quoted Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah as confi rming the approval.

Registrar Surayati Ibrahim approved the application a week after Pakatan Harapan took over Putrjaya following its win against Barisan Nasional ( BN) in the just- concluded 14th general election.

During the election, Pakatan Harapan component parties — Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR), Democratic Action Party ( DAP), Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( PPBM) and Parti Amanah Negara used the PKR logo as party symbol in Peninsular Malaysia.

DAP, PKR and Amanah, however, decided to use their respective logo in Sarawak and Sabah.

Surayati has been reported to have said that the approval had to be delayed because she had to wait for the fresh application for registration by PPBM to be approved. She had also ordered the temporary dissolution of PPBM as it did not strictly follow some procedures when applying.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court rejected the dissolution but the case is still ongoing.
