Saradise Gallery rolls out art leasing programme

KUCHING: Saradise Gallery rolled out an art leasing programme where corporatio­ns can lease pieces of artwork for their offices, as an alternativ­e to purchasing them outright.

The advantage is to bring art to more people and new spaces to show and educate the people how beautiful artwork have a way of breathing new life into spaces and engaging people, said Saradise CEO Dato Chris Chung.

“They can lease them at an affordable price to give their offices a distinctiv­ely cool cutting- edge appearance,” Chung said in his speech on Tuesday evening.

He was speaking during the launch of ‘Angle/Sudut - see Sarawak in a New Perspectiv­e’, a new exhibition to commemorat­e the fresh new look of the gallery which has recently undergone a minor face lift.

He added that the art appreciati­on evening accompanyi­ng the official launch was just one of many more events that have been planned for 2018.

The new exhibition features artwork by renowned local artists currently collaborat­ing with Saradise Gallery.

Double Dynasty Group of Companies managing director Tan Sri Yee Ming Seng, Saradise director Datu Michael Ting, and resident artists namely Dr Yakup Mohd Rafee, Awangko Hamdan, Sylvester Jussem, Mohd Faizuan, and Narong Daun were among those present at the cocktail reception.

Sarawak Artists Society president David Chew, Sarawak Fine Arts Society president Justine Wong, and Sarawak Handicraft, Art and Souvenir Associatio­n president Gerald Goh were also present.

Guests were also able to view the gallery’s mission statement, ‘ To showcase the creative side of Sarawak to the World’, painted on a unique hand-woven Tikar Bergerang collage art piece.

On the mission statement, Chung said what they had achieved and hoped to continue achieving is in line with their mission statement, which is to showcase the creative side of Sarawak to the world.

“Our intention is to continuous­ly work with not only renowned local artistic talents but also potential emerging young talents.”

‘ Sudut’ will run until June 8, from 9am to 5pm, from Monday to Friday.

Saradise Gallery is located at Level 1, Titanium Tower, Brighton Square.
