Walikota: Over RM40,000 spent to improve Ramadan bazaar facilities

-

LIMBANG: The Limbang District Council ( LDC) has spent more than RM40,000 to provide better trading facilities for this year’s Ramadan bazaar.

Walikota Sufian Mohat said the allocation was to purchase canopies for the 117 traders who have rented stalls at the bazaar.

“Every year, LDC spends a substantial amount to provide better facilities at the Ramadan bazaar.

“This year alone, over RM40,000 was spent for purchasing canopies, excluding maintenance cost,” he said told the media at his office yesterday.

He said the site for this year’s bazaar is “more strategic” than the previous location, and has led to overwhelming response from traders compared to past years.

“In addition to 117 booths for cooking, we also received encouraging response from 37 cloth dealers and 20 from traders of cakes and biscuits.

“Of great interest, three nonMuslim traders are also involved in selling fabric and clothing at the booths fronting Bank Rakyat Limbang,” he said.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail is scheduled to officially open the Ramadan bazaar at Lot 777 here today.

Sufian went on to remind traders to prioritise hygiene and maintain food quality, saying LDC will be working closely with the Limbang Division Health Department to monitor the situation.

He also urged them not to unload their goods by the roadside of the bazaar in order to reduce traffic congestion.
