Masa new exco receives warm welcome from RRSS

MIRI: The new executive committee for Miri Division Swimming Associatio­n ( Masa) paid a visit to Riam Road Secondary School ( RRSS) on Thursday to discuss upcoming swimming events.

Its chairperso­n for term 2018/2019 Sim Chui Bee who led the new office bearers received a warm welcome from RRSS chief executive officer Dato Dr Fong Onn Min.

According to Sim, RRRS has won the annual Datuk Lee Kim Shin Challenge Trophy inter- school swimming competitio­n for three consecutiv­e years.

The school had also funded the inter- school swimming competitio­ns organised by the swimming associatio­n, with strong support from the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture, Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

During the visit, Dr Fong told the visitors that the school will continue to give its full support and cooperatio­n to ensure the success of all the swimming events organised by Masa, and looked forward to see the associatio­n develop further and positively under the new office bearers.

Dr Fong also pointed out that Miri swimmers needs a profession­al coach, and may consider hiring instructor­s from China.

He also suggested that swimmers with excellent performanc­e be given appropriat­e rewards to further motivate them and for the associatio­n to have the support of parents of all swimmers to ensure continuous achievemen­ts and developmen­t in the sport of swimming,” he said.

Also present during the visit were Masa vice chairman I Jennifer Chai; vice chairman II Helena Yong; secretary Amy Ting, assistant secretary Tie Xiao Wei, treasurer Amanda Ngieng and committee members Yung Chun Chai, Raymond Ting, Gabriel, Joanna Lawai and Liang Wan Ying.
