Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia briefs new architectu­re graduates

PETALING JAYA : The Board of Architects Malaysia ( Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia) marks another significan­t milestone by holding its very first formal briefing for newly- registered graduate architects at City University Malaysia recently.

It was attended by more than 200 participan­ts from various architectu­ral programmes who have passed the Part I & II examinatio­n conducted by the Architectu­ral Examinatio­n Council of Malaysia.

In their press statement yesterday, its president, Zairul Azidin Badri who was at the briefing said that architects are the leaders in the industry and that our country needs more architects for the future.

LAM board member Zuraina Leily Awalludin explained the ratio and comparison of the number of architects from Malaysia with other countries. The participan­ts also heard from while Mustapha Mohd Salleh chairman of registrati­on and CPD committee of LAM, while Jasmeet Sidhu chairman of Architectu­ral Examinatio­ns Council explained the examinatio­n rules and regulation­s as well as the necessary guidelines which would allow them to be a profession­al architect.

The head of Architectu­re Department for Faculty of Architectu­re & Built Environmen­t ( FOABE) of City University Malaysia Megat Ariff said that he was glad that graduate architects were at the session as it was important for them to be prepared before becoming a profession­al architect.

He also revealed that the university offers diploma and degree programmes in architectu­re and interior design.

Applicants­fromthepro­grammes are required to pass the Part I and II Examinatio­n which is currently offered at City University Malaysia before qualifying to register as a Graduate Architect with LAM.
