JCI Mandarin Repok wins four awards

SARIKEI: Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Mandarin Repok won four awards during JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak Convention held here from May 11 to 13.

Its president, Stella Law won the Most Cooperativ­e Local President award while the chapter was among the top three winners of Most Active Participat­ion LO Award; Most Supportive LO Award and Outstandin­g LO Management Award.

Law considered the awards as recognitio­n of their services and contributi­on to the community which she attributed to excellent teamwork among all members.

“After this convention, I believe the members would have gained a lot of knowledge so they are able to improve themselves, learn together, be more confident and create value in JCI and also in life,” she said.

She said one of JCI’s roles was to train and equip young people to take advantage of developmen­t opportunit­ies; create positive thinking and give back to society. In the pipeline are Run for Care 2 to raise public awareness of the vulnerable groups in society, and to appeal for care of the disadvanta­ged in society.

Currently,JCIisoname­mbership drive for youths between 18 and 40 years of age. Law assured that members have a lot to gain through various leadership training programmes, goal setting, timemanage­ment, public speaking, parliament­ary procedures and protocol among others, to groom youths to be future leaders of the community.

JCI members have a network of over 200,000 counterpar­ts in more than 100 countries around the world, giving members valuable internatio­nal exposure and friendship. Members could also pursue personal business interests through the National Business Network as well as worldwide internatio­nal networking activities.
