Adya Hotel forges cooperation with Indonesia’s Hotel Sahira

LANGKAWI: Adya Hotel Langkawi, an Islamic concept hotel owned by the Kedah government, has forged cooperation with Hotel Sahira in Bogor, Indonesia, which has a similar model for its operations.

Group general manager Razmi Rahmat said the cooperation involves sharing expertise and starts with the arrival of a chef from Hotel Sahira here next month.

“The chef will be here for 10 days from June 2 to help prepare various traditional dishes from the Bogor district, while our own chefs will be at Hotel Sahira in August to share their own expertise,” he added.

According to Razmi, the cooperation was forged with support from Tourism Malaysia which helped identify compatible hotels in Indonesia, to enhance the quality of services offered by hotel entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, he said Adya Hotel was building another 128-room hotel at the Pantai Chenang area here and it would be ready in August.

When completed, the Adya Hotel Chenang, will bring the total number of hotels in the Adya chain to three and includes one in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur.

“We are still looking at another hotel in Alor Setar within the next two years,” Razmi said.

He disclosed that 39 shops lots belonging to Permodalan Kedah Bhd - the owner of the Hotel Adya chain - will be built close to the Adya Hotel Chenang and rented out at low rates.

“Priority will be given to Bumiputera Langkawi traders to rent the shop lots before being opened to those from outside and who have shown a keen interest in assisting with the development of the island,” Razmi said. — Bernama
