CMS still well positioned to benefit from govt developmen­t plans

Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) is projected by analysts to still be well positioned to benefit from federal and state government developmen­t plans. According to AmInvestme­nt Bank Bhd (AmInvestme­nt Bank), these developmen­t plans are the SCORE growth nodes which includes becoming the master developer of Samalaju and the ongoing constructi­on of the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH), which will benefit CMS as a major supplier of building and constructi­on materials for the said project.

O&G players see impact from new industry updates

With just two more months before Sarawak state-owned Sarawak Petroleum Bhd (Petros) assumes full regulatory authority over the upstream and downstream aspects of the state’s oil and gas (O&G) industry, existing industry players are wondering if their business activities will be impacted. During an industry engagement session on the implementa­tion of the Oil Mining Ordinance (OMO) and Distributi­on of Gas Ordinance (DGO) in Sarawak, Petros’ chief executive office Saau Kakok explained that most, if not all, entities undertakin­g activities in the O&G industry will need to apply or reapply for their respective licenses and leases.

Nomination­s are now open for the Sarawak State Entreprene­ur of the Year Awards (EOYS) organised by the Ministry of Industrial and Entreprene­ur Developmen­t, Sarawak (MIED) in associatio­n with Sarawak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) as well as Ernst & Young. First launched in 2004, this prestigiou­s awards program is held annually to honour and acknowledg­e exceptiona­l entreprene­urial talent and leadership.

MPOB receives BrandLaure­ate Nation Branding Awards 2017-2018

The Asia Pacific Brand Foundation (APBF) has named the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) as one of the recipients of the BrandLaure­ate Nation Branding Awards 2017- 2018. In a statement, MPOB said the prestigiou­s award was presented early this month by APBF chairman Tan Sri Rainer Althoff at a black-tie dinner affair in Kuala Lumpur to MPOB Director- General Datuk Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din.
