Work with PH govt, community heads urged
KUCHING: Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin has called on community leaders under his constituency to work together with him under the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) government.
He gave his assurance that he would not terminate their service and that he was looking forward to work with them.
“The Penghulu, Pemanca and village chiefs ought to know that 70 per cent of the allowance received by them every month is paid by the federal government.
“In view of this, I hope that we can all work together to develop Puncak Borneo and improve the livelihood of constituents here,” he said at the ‘ Majlis Bersama Rakyat’ at Kampung Ampungan here on Saturday.
He also pledged to fight for the rights of people in Puncak Borneo over their NCR lands to ensure that the lands would not be snatched and exploited any more.
“I am aware that there are many cases of land acquisition in this constituency and we must safeguard our land from being taken,” he stressed.
On another matter, Willie said he aspired to give more job opportunities to the youths in Puncak Borneo constituency.
To ensure this goal is met, he said he was currently in the process of compiling a data on graduates including SPM and STPM holders who have yet to secure jobs.
“I understand that in Bidayuh areas including Puncak Borneo, there are many unemployed graduates including those who hold SPM and STPM qualifications.
“I hope that they can provide me with their respective details by contacting me through my Facebook page and we will carry out an analysis as well as formula to find ways on how best to assist them in getting a job,” he remarked.
Through this initiative, he hoped that he would be able to assist the youths gain employment so that they would in turn be able to assist their families in various aspects.
