KUCHING: Trienekens ( Sarawak) Sdn Bhd recently conducted a ‘gotong- royong’ (work party) at the Chapel of St Francis Xavier in Kampung Seratau near here.

The activity was held in collaboration with the church committee.

In response to a request from the village committee, Trienekens assisted in providing materials to build a kitchen block, meant for the women’s guild of the chapel.

The ‘gotong- royong’ gathered volunteers who worked together in clearing and preparing the identified site for the block, as well as conducting general cleanup around the church.

This initiative was one of many community programmes carried out under Trienekens’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) event calendar, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness to the villagers, apart from fostering a sense of care and responsibility in the community.

Trienekens group chief executive officer Stephen Chin commended the close relationship between Trienekens and the people of Kampung Seratau, assuring them that the company would continue to work closely with the local community.

He also expressed the hope that with the improved facilities, the local community would strive to preserve the cleanliness of their neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, St Francis Xavier Chapel chairman and head of its religious bureau Ilbaes Edem expressed his gratitude to Trienekens, stating that the villagers were pleased to be provided with the opportunity to work with the company.

“We hope that Trienekens would jointly run more activities with us in the near future.”

Kampung Seratau headman Lambert Anthony and Trienekens chief operating officer Alice Lee were also present.
