Swinburne Sarawak opens July intake for its foundation courses
KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus has launched the opening of the July intake for its foundation courses, scheduled to commence this July 16.
The decision for the launch was based on the current preference of students to begin their studies in the second half of the year.
Applications for the July intake can be made via online, either directly with the university or any of the appointed education partners nationwide.
“Over the last few years, we have observed an increasing trend of students preferring to begin their pre-university programmes like our foundation courses in the second half of the year, as they are keen to take some time off after completing high school,” said Swinburne Sarawak’s director of marketing and student recruitment Jagdish Singh.
He said 10 years ago, the firsthalf intakes were popular but now, it appears that the preference has shifted to the second-half.
“This is a nationwide trend that we are paying close attention to. We’re committed to evolving with the needs of our students – this July intake is for students who find April too early and September too late.”
A foundation course is a pre- university preparatory programme that provides students a quicker and more supportive pathway towards pursuing undergraduate studies in their preferred disciplines.
A one-year foundation course is a faster route than other preuniversity courses, which may require up to two years for completion.
