Henry to go to the ground meeting people
LAWAS: Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong will be going to the ground to meet the people and village chiefs to explain Sarawak’s political direction under the PBB umbrella.
The former deputy minister of domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism was re- elected for the fifth term on May 9 general election, but together with other elected BN MPs, is now in the opposition after Pakatan Harapan swept into power.
Henry said the state government helmed by PBB was still strong and would continue with its agenda to bring about development throughout the state.
He hoped that cooperation with the federal PH government would enable all federal projects approved by the previous BN government would be continued.
“Cooperation does not mean that we are joining PH but to stand on our own feet as a truly Sarawak alliance to fight for our rights,” he said.
He was saddened with the unfolding political drama of settling scores by some figures in PH although Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad did not adopt such spirit.
Henry thus urged the people in Lawas to remain united and continue to cooperate with the state government.
He is also looking forward to a new approach taken by PBB to resonate with the people’s aspirations, while he himself would continue to serve the people and highlight their problems to the relevant higher authorities.
Cooperation does not mean that we are joining PH but to stand on our own feet as a truly Sarawak alliance to fight for our rights.
