KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 17year- old girl was killed after she was flung into the path of an oncoming car following a motorcycle crash here yesterday.

The incident, which happened at KM18 Jalan Kota SamarahanAsajaya, also saw the girl’s 17year-old male friend suffer serious injuries.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased has been identified as Fitratul Izzah Hamdan.

According to him, the two friends – both from Kampung Sebandi Ulu – were travelling towards Kota Samarahan when their motorcycle went out of control and crashed around 3.15pm.

“Initial investigation revealed that the crash caused Fitratul Izzah, who was the pillion rider, to be thrown into the opposite lane where she was struck and killed by an oncoming car.

“The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was sent to a clinic in Asajaya for treatment,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Alexson added the deceased was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching for a postmortem.

He also mentioned that the car driver, a 32-year- old woman who hails from the same village as the two friends, was not injured in the accident.

Police have classified the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
