In 2015, Hu starred in espionage drama The Disguiser, which was met with critical acclaim and dominated ratings. This was followed by Nirvana in Fire, a turning point in his acting career.

Yang Yang is one of China’s hottest rising stars and was the leading man of the hit drama Love O2O.

Chen has been cast in republican spy drama Lost in 1949 as a twin brother, and historical period drama The Rise of Phoenixes as a calculative and ambitious royal prince. He is also producing the two dramas.

In contrast, top actresses like Fan Bingbing, Yang Mi, Sun Li and Zhang Ziyi each command per-movie fees of about 80 million yuan ( RM49.9 million).

Also among the top earners are Jing Boran and Liu Horan, whose asking fees are 90 million ( RM56.2 million) per movie.
