KPS wants Splash takeover settled once and for all
SHAH ALAM: Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd ( KPS) hopes all remaining issues on the takeover of water concession company Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) will be finalised once and for all under the new state and federal governments.
Chairman Raja Datuk Idris Raja Kamarudin said KPS, which owns a 30 per cent stake in Splash, would like the current Selangor and federal governments to settle all outstanding issues pertaining to the takeover of the water concessionaire by July 4, following the deadline set by the previous government.
“We hope this deadline (for the Splash takeover) will be final and there are no further extensions... basically so we can all get on with our lives and not discuss the takeover again and again. If it (Splash) is going to be divested, let it be divested.
“The group hopes there’s strong political will to resolve this takeover not only in favour of KPS and the Selangor government but also for consumers in the state who wish to see an improvement in the water quality and distribution system,” he told a press conference after KPS’ annual and extraordinary general meeting yesterday.
Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd sold their water assets for RM2.47 billion, RM3.11 billion and RM990 million respectively to Pengurusan Air Selangor Bhd.
Splash is the last pending water asset to be taken over under the Selangor water restructuring exercise.
Raja Idris said as the Selangor government today is part of the ruling coalition, it would be beneficial to both the state government and KPS to resolve the issue of water restructuring and consolidation.
“The last offer made to Splash was RM250.6 million,” he added. — Bernama
