See Hua Group praised for promoting Chinese-medium education
The See Hua Group has played a significant role in the continuous promotion of China’s development as well as Chinese history, culture, traditions, knowledge, and values through its emphasis on Chinese-medium education.
Consul- General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching Cheng Guangzhong said Chinesemedium education is the key to the preservation of Chinese culture and values in Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.
“Chinese education’s contributions here cannot go unnoticed. Malaysia, including Sarawak, has the best Chinese education, not only in this region but the world, I would say,” he said when visiting See Hua Group at Crown Towers here yesterday.
Among those receiving them were KTS Group of Companies managing director Dato Henry Lau and deputy managing director Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau.
Cheng said the ConsulateGeneral would do its best to assist, promote, and support local Chinese-medium education here including with teaching materials and financially through scholarships and incentives for tertiary education in China as well as educational exchange programmes.
“We would also encourage more collaborations between Chinese independent schools, universities, and colleges in China and Sarawak,” he said.
Cheng said he is confident See Hua would progress further and contribute to the development of society, particularly to the Chinese community.
“See Hua will continue to play a major role in supporting Chinese education and China’s development. In my view, more and more people will be proficient in Mandarin as it is set to become another sustainable and global language in the future,” he added.
“With the excellent development in Chinese education in Sarawak, don’t ever lose this advantage because it is extremely difficult to master the Chinese language but in it, reflected a very rich and long history as well as exquisite core values and spirit.”
Cheng, who has been here for nearly three months now, also praised Kuching and Sarawak as an ideal place for living and working.
“These are also showcased in the wide array of food available, including Chinese cuisine. Bak kut teh for example reflects the history of early Chinese immigrants to Malaysia and Sarawak, who had come up with such an innovation,” he said.
The visitors also toured the KTS Gallery to learn about the history and business activities of the KTS Group, as well as viewed a video presentation on the history of See Hua Daily News.
