No delay in monthly welfare aid — Fatimah

-

There is no such thing as delay in giving out monthly welfare aid to existing eligible recipients even though the federal government is now led by Pakatan Harapan ( PH).

Minister of Welfare, Community Well-Being,Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah made this remark adding that the state Welfare Department has been reminded to also accept new applicants as they come in.

“All the assistance under the welfare scheme are still being provided to recipients and there are no such thing as delay,” she said at the “Majlis Sejambak Kasih Gawai dan Raya” held at Dalat Community Hall here yesterday.

According to Fatimah, the state Welfare Department community development (JKMS) staff are requested to give attention to those who really need the assistance and they can get early help through “Skim Bantuan Am” that has been allocated by the state government until the new policy is imposed.

“The welfare assistance is to assist the community so that they do not live in abject poverty,”she added.

“The welfare assistance are given based on the poverty guideline where the head of the household has income less than RM990 per month.”

“Program Sejambak Kasih” is an annual event organised by JKMS everytime there is a main celebration or festival coming up in Sarawak.

A total of 207 JKMS recipients from Mukah district received a cash contribution of RM100 and a hamper worth RM50 each.
