PKR Sarawak holds high hopes for next state polls, says party’s women chief

-

State PKR Women chief Nurhanim Mokhsen is confident of the party’s potential in winning more seats in the next state election.

According to her, the feat by Pakatan Harapan ( PH) in securing 12 seats in Sarawak during the May 9 parliamentary polls is a clear indication of the people’s aspirations for a better nation.

“It is very possible for us to get more seats in the state election – everybody knows this – but the political awareness is here, and the people are eager to change.

“I am sure Sarawakian voters will give us that chance,” she said during a press conference held at PKR Sarawak headquarters recently.

Nurhanim also disclosed that since the May 9 election, PKR Sarawak had been receiving ‘tons’ of new membership applications at each of its 31 branches across the state.

She added that every application would be sent to the PKR headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to be vetted.

“At state and branch levels, we can only accept the applications,” she said.

On another note, Nurhanim said PKR Women members would be heading to the ground to visit each of the party branches after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The series of visits, she said, would serve to obtain feedback towards ascertaining the challenges that they (PKR branch members) had been facing, and also to ensure that the members are all geared up for changes following the takeover of the federal government by PH.

“The visits are also to ensure that the branches can prepare early for the state election and work out steps to fulfil our manifesto pertaining to the interests of womenfolk,” she added.
