Azmin assures Sarawak will not be left behind

-

KUCHING: The new government will focus on a more just and equitable distribution of wealth to Sarawak to realise the true potential of the state under a new economic direction.

Minister of Economic Affairs Dato Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has assured Sarawakians in his Gawai festive celebration message yesterday that Sarawak will not be left behind any longer.

“Sarawak’s economic development will be centred upon poverty eradication, developing vital infrastructure and upholding the rights of all Sarawakians,” he said.

In the true spirit of Federalism, he emphasised that Sarawak’s economic rights will be strengthened, as Sarawak’s economic growth will accelerate Malaysia’s development and prosperity of the people.

Gawai, he noted, is a proud celebration by Dayaks in Sarawak, signaling the end of harvest after months of hard work, and welcoming the new paddy cultivating season.

“It is also a humble celebration rooted in the wonderful spirit of togetherness among all Sarawakian ethnic groups in their quest for a brighter future,” he said.

This special relationship and solidarity among Sarawakians, he added, is similar to the relationship between Sarawak and the Federal government, one which will be rooted on the same principles.

“In the true Gawai spirit, I hope the people of Sarawak will celebrate the harvest season with their family and friends, and with all Malaysians. I wish you all ‘ Selamat Ngintu Gawai Dayak, Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai, Chelap Lindap Lantang Senang Nguan Menua’,” he concluded.
