“Boat operators and boat passengers had given us good cooperation. There was also very good teamwork and cooperation shown by the other agencies that were involved in the operation,” he said yesterday.

The department or agencies involved in the integrated operations included Royal Malaysia Police, Marine Police, Marine Department, Civil Defence Force, People’s Volunteer Corps ( Rela), Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

Hatta hoped to see the same cooperation in the next operation slated for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which is about two weeks away.

The first phase of Hari Raya Aidilfitri operation will run from June 8 to 10 while the second phase, from June 22 to 24.

Meanwhile, Hatta noted that the number of passengers at the terminal yesterday had decreased as the majority of them had already returned home for the celebration. Four extra trips for the Sibu/Song/Kapit sector were approved yesterday.
