It is good to hear the education minister has an open mind on whatever school streams that we have, his vision is to try and connect them, to bridge them with one another especially the differences.

SIBU: Sarawak Teachers’ Union ( STU) suggested that the mechanism to gather feedback from members of the public on ways to improve the country’s education system to be fine-tuned to ensure a fair response.

STU president Jisin Nyud said the exercise should involve teachers’ unions as they are the platform to voice out any issues or opinion pertaining to teachers.

He was reacting to Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik’s recent statement in his Facebook page that his team has set up an online form for the public to send in their feedback on ways to improve the education system of the country.

with one another especially the differences,” he said

Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union ( KGBS) also urged Maszlee to also engage teachers’ unions other than the public in gathering of feedback on ways to improve the country’s education system.

Jisin also said the feedback need to include the views of rural folk.

“This is a good initiative especially on the feedback from the teachers, parents and other educators, who are directly involved in the system.

“However, I feel that this feedback won’t be sufficient as it doesn’t include those people in the rural and interior areas where there is no internet ,” Jisin told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Even teachers who teach in areas with no Internet connectivity will not be able to give their feedback, he said.
