Development will continue to come to Telang Usan, vows rep

MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis assures his constituents that he will continue doing the best he can in bringing development to his area.

In this respect, he said the construction of solar electricity generating facilities in Ba Kawi and some other villages across Telang Usan is progressing smoothly – thanks to total cooperation from the local communities.

“Very soon, the lives of the residents in Ba Kawi will be transformed following the provision of 24-hour electricity. This is a part of Barisan Nasional ( BN)-led government’s long-term development strategies that have been set years ago. This is my struggles, together with Baram MP Anyie Ngau all along and in years to come, as long as I am your YB (elected representative),” he spoke during an Easter gathering at the Borneo Evangelical Mission ( BEM) Centre in Long Kawi recently, which hosted over 400 Christians from 12 Penan villages and Ba Kawi settlement in the Patah-Abang area in Ulu Baram.

The Patah-Abang area is about a five-hour car drive from the city via logging road.

On the event, Dennis was glad to see the attendance of many youths.

“I hope that our young generation would continue to receive God’s guidance in going about their daily lives. This has become so important today as we continue to face ever- changing life challenges and pressures. Make your belief in God as your guiding armour against worldly temptations out there.”

Dennis also took the opportunity to remind the village heads and chieftains to carry on with their daily lives and duties, instead of being preoccupied with politics.

“Election is over, so it is time to tone down – or better still, stop all the politicking; otherwise, it would prolong feuds that could cause splits within the community, including the church, which would not bring any good to anyone.”

Later, Dennis presented RM2,000 from his Minor Rural Project ( MRP) grant to the event organising committee, and another RM3,000 to the Patah Abang Youth Committee for them to host youth gatherings at BEM Long Lilim.
