Successful businesses urged to donate to THM

-

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( KKCCCI) president Datuk Michael Lui hopes that successful companies, consortium and conglomerates in Malaysia and abroad will step forward to support the Tabung Harapan Malaysia in efforts to rebuild Malaysia.

Lui admitted that the idea of the government raising funds from the people was ‘unbelievable’ to him at first.

After thorough consideration, he said the THM was set up for Malaysians to help ease the country’s financial situation.

He said the THM provided an official channel managed by the Finance Ministry to prevent fundraising frauds.

At the same time, he said THM allowed Malaysians to show their patriotism by donating to the fund.

“We have seen the government’s commitment in reducing our nation’s debt.

“I believe the rakyat are willing to work hand in hand with the government to rebuild the country for the future of Malaysia.”

Nonetheless, Lui reminded the public that the donation was completely voluntary and should not be taken as a measure of one’s patriotism.

“Whether or not one donates or how much a person donates should not be confused with their patriotism towards the country.”

He believed that THM would garner much support nationwide.

“I hope successful companies, consortium and conglomerates in Malaysia and abroad will step forward and make a donation when the country needs us the most,” he urged.
