SEOUL: Rapper C Jamm has been arrested and is being investigated for illegal marijuana use, according to local police.

Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced that C Jamm and another man in his 30s were taken into custody on April 13 for allegedly possessing and smoking marijuana. The rapper is currently being held in Suwon Detention Centre and is being investigated by the prosecution. Six more suspects, including a widely-known rapper Vasco, also a former “Show Me the Money” contestant, were booked without detention and are also being investigated.

According to the police, C Jamm had been smoking marijuana at his home in Seodaemun- gu, western Seoul starting in May 2015. The police, tipped off in advance, searched his house and found 29 grams of marijuana. According to the police, C Jamm has admitted to all the charges against him. Drug tests came out “positive.”

The supplier is thought to have left the country.

Meanwhile, the rapper‘s comment on his social media account, “I will go in after finishing recording,” posted before his arrest, has raised criticisms that the rapper was not taking the matter seriously.

The 25-year- old rapper had participated in two seasons of Mnet’s hip-hop survival audition show “Show Me the Money.”

Over the years, several Korean celebrities have been arrested for cannabis consumption.

They included rapper Psy and guitarist Shin Joong-hyun.

Psy was charged for the offence back in 2001, shortly after the release of his first album. He was jailed for 25 days. For a time, his music was not allowed to be sold to minors.
