JAMIE Dornan and Matthew Rhys will star in “Death and Nightingales,” a three-part drama for the British TV channel, BBC Two, due to start filming this summer in Northern Ireland.

Based on Eugene McCabe’s 1992 novel, the drama is set in Northern Ireland in the 1880s and follows a young woman in a story of love, betrayal, deception and revenge.

As she turns 25, Beth Winters, played by Ann Skelly, decides to leave her limited life and difficult relationship with her stepfather ( Rhys) with the help of the charming Liam Ward ( Dornan).

Produced by Imaginarium Productions and Soho Moon, this BBC three-parter is directed by Allan Cubitt.

Red Arrow Studios International will distribute the production worldwide. “We are thrilled to combine the wonderful talents of Matthew Rhys and Jamie Dornan with the remarkable new star-inthe-making Ann Skelly,” said producer Jonathan Cavendish. It will be “The Americans” star Rhys’ first project with Cubitt, whereas Dornan previously worked with the British director on TV show “The Fall,” with Gillian Anderson, between 2013 and 2016.

Welsh actor Rhys starred in the BBC miniseries, “Death Comes to Pemberley,” in 2013, as well as the Charles Dickens adaptation, “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” the previous year.

As for Dornan, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” star will soon be seen on the big screen in the role of Will Scarlet in Otto Bathurst’s “Robin Hood” movie, opening in November.
