Pustaka Miri to host ‘World #QuranHour 2018’

MIRI: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri in collaborat­ion with Sarawak Islamic Department (JAIS) will host the World #QuranHour Programme for Miri Division on June 7 at 11am in the library’s auditorium.

The library’s public relation officer Sofina Tan said Lambir assemblyma­n Ripin Lamat is expected to officiate at the event adding that members of the public including civil servants are encouraged to take part in the programme which will feature mass recitation of the Quran verses.

“This programme aims to promote the love of reciting Quran among Muslims, experience the pleasure of reading the Quran in a simple and relaxed method and to create interest among Muslims to better study and practise the teachings of Quran,” said Tan in a statement yesterday

The World #QuranHour Programme is an initiative by Rumah Ngaji – under the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak coorganise­s this programme to be held simultaneo­usly in Kuching and Miri. Other government department­s, statutory bodies, private companies, non-government­al organisati­ons (NGOs), mosques and members of the public are also invited to organise similar programme at their own premises.

Tan added members of the public who have participat­ed are encouraged to upload their photos of reading the Quran and use the hash tags #QuranHour on their social media Facebook, Instagram or Twitter respective­ly.
