Ministry calls for more parties to help out welfare organisations
KUCHING: A call has been made for more individuals and those from the corporate sector to step out and help the lessfortunate members of society and also welfare organisations like orphanages.
In this respect, Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, says these welfare bodies incur lots of expenses each month meant for their operations.
“With more parties coming out to help the needy, the goal of community wellbeing can be achieved,” she spoke at the ‘buka puasa’ ( break- of- fast) gathering at Laila Taib Complex here on Sunday, where some 80 children under the care of Orphans Welfare Organisation of Malaysia ( Peryatim) were treated not only to good food, but also ‘duit raya’ (cash packets).
On the event, Fatimah lauded Asia Public Relations Sdn Bhd on its initiative to help ease the burden of the staff and management of the orphanage.
“This is one of the qualities in Islam, where orphans are being taken good care of,” she said.
Meanwhile, AsiaPR group operations director Sivakumar G thanked Peryatim for giving the company the chance to contribute during the holy month of Ramadan.
Additionally, the group also donated RM8,000 to Laila Taib Complex.
Peryatim chief executive officer Mohamad Salleh Hamdin and a member of its board of directors Aisyah Tan Abdullah were present at the event.
