Resident finds public amenities in Kapit severely wanting

-

KAPIT: A local resident vocally expresses his frustration over the poor wireless connectivity in this town, despite the state’s push for digital economy.

For the consumer known only as Ah Kee, the situation also covers water and electricity supply problems, as well as interrupted phone line service.

He claims that things here have not improved much over the years, even after they were highlighted in the media and requests were forwarded to the relevant authorities several times.

“We pay the monthly bills for telephone, Internet, electricity and water usage. But sadly and very often, we cannot use our handphones and Internet because there’s no connectivity; the water and electricity supply is always interrupted.

“We hope the government could do something for us – the sooner, the better,” he lamented when met recently.

In this regard, Ah Kee called upon the relevant agencies and ministry to do something other than ‘ finger-pointing’.

“A few years back, I heard about the implementation of ( fibre) optics cable to improve wireless services but till now, the wireless connectivity is still very disappointing. Kapit itself is the state’s powerhouse of electricity generation; yet we, the people here, are unable to enjoy a decent, steady power supply.

“The mighty Rajang ( River) is just in front of us; yet, we always experience dry taps,” he complained.
