Crocs to plunge ahead after decision against fourth import
KUCHING: Sarawak will play the rest of the Premier League season with only three import players following the decision of Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) not to sign Nicolas Alejandro Dul.
FAS president Dato Posa Majais, who announced this at press conference, said buying the Argentine midfielder during the transfer window was not feasible as the Premier League competition would end soon.
“FAS will stand to lose if we sign Nicolas now because the Premier League will end in July.
“Bear in mind that we need to pay for the big transfer fee. Moreover, we can only use his services for a short period,” he said.
Posa added that he had discussed with head coach Ian Andrew Gillan and stressed that the current squad is still capable of posing a strong challenge and improve their current position.
Nicolas became Gillian’s choice to replace Nebojse Marinkovic after FAS dropped the latter following his poor performance.
With the dropping of Nebojse, Sarawak had to only depend on Mateo Roskam, Milos Raickovic and Kim Chi- Gon.
Currently, FAS are fielding local youth player Gibson Billy in the attacking department.
Sarawak will next play against MISC-MIFA on June 9 at Stadium Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya.
They are now placed sixth in the league table with 15 points from 13 matches.
