“The people voted PH because they hated GST,” Dr Ting said during a visit to Boulevard Hypermarket at Imperial Mall here yesterday.

DAP Miri Youth chief Peter Hii and operation cum marketing manager of Boulevard Hypermarket and Departmental Store and Boulevard Shopping Complex Alan Lee Chee Leong were among those who accompanied Dr Ting during the visit.

“The zero-rated GST must now be adhered to by all businesses at least until Sept 1 when the SST takes over,” Dr Ting added after seeing first-hand items sold at the hypermarket, which are GST zerorated.

Lee, meanwhile, said all items sold at their three outlets (Imperial Mall, Boulevard Pujut and in Sabah) were already carrying zero per cent GST.

“Business is good and customers are spending more, especially during festive seasons, because of the zero-rated GST,” he said.
