BINTULU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Bintulu has issued 11 warning notices to traders here for failing to zerorate the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Its chief Salihin Den said the traders were given three days to comply with the government’s decision to zero-rated GST, or face action.

“As of June 4, our enforcement officers have conducted inspection of 1,100 items at over 50 business premises under Ops Catut 4.0,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the inspections were carried out in response to complaints received through KPDNKK’s official Facebook page, with enforcement officers visiting supermarkets, grocery stores, fast-food outlets, hardware stores, pharmacies and convenience stores.

deployed our enforcement team to the said premises to carry out inspections,” he said, adding that the 11 premises were found to be still selling goods with six per cent GST charge.

Salihin added that failure to comply is an offence under Section 14(1) of the Price Control and AntiProfiteering Act 2011 for making unreasonably high profits.

He also urged consumers who fall victim to non- compliant traders to provide the ministry with details such as the name of the premises, type of items, as well as receipts to facilitate investigation.
