Another PBRS division dissolved
KOTA BELUD: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah ( PBRS) was dealt another blow when vice-president and PBRS Kadamaian divisional chairman Ukoh Jeremy Majalad resigned from all his posts yesterday.
Joining Jeremy, who is the former Kedamaian assemblyman, were 31 senior leaders in the division, including from the Youth and Women movements. In a short statement, Jeremy said: “I support the decision taken by YB Datuk Dr Johnson Tee and the wisdom behind his decision to resign as PBRS Secretary- General and to leave PBRS.
“I believe that under the current political situation in which the people have spoken through the ballot box that they want change, it’s therefore only appropriate that we continue serving the people in whatever political capacity we can by quitting the opposition party and throw our unconditional support to the current government.
“We therefore call upon our former comrades who are still in PBRS to come out and join us in supporting the current government. I wish to also thank the PBRS leadership for the valuable experiences I have had while with the party and wish to extend my sincere apology for any shortcoming during my tenure as vice-president of PBRS”.
Last Saturday, PBRS Supreme Council member and Tandek divisional chairman Doison B Dansi also left the party.
It is understood that several more PBRS leaders both at divisional and state level are contemplating leaving the party.
PBRS president Tan Sr i Panglima Joseph Kurup said the party had decided to quit the Barisan Nasional ( BN) after winning only one state seat and one parliamentary seat in the 14th general election.
Uni t e d P a s okmomo g u n Kadazandusun Murut Organisation ( Upko) and Liberal Democratic Party have also announced leaving BN. Only Upko has joined Parti Warisan Sabah.
