Appoint Ranau MP to federal Cabinet — Anak Negeri

-

KOTA KINABALU: Par t i Kerjasama Anak Negeri has urged Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathi r Mohamad to appoint PKR Ranau member of parliament Jonathan Yasin to the federal Cabinet representing Sabah.

Its president cum Ranau branch chief Datuk Henrynus Amin said Jonathan was a senior figure in PKR who was consistent in his struggle through PKR and who had shown exemplary leadership leading to the successful regime change in Malaysia.

He s a id Sabah needed a federal representation and Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri Ranau agreed the Ranau MP, who had won decisively during the recent general election deserved to be given due recognition and be appointed as a federal minister.

Jonathan is a practicing lawyer, well qualified and well prepared for a Cabinet post in the federal government, said Henrynus who was speaking during the party’s Ranau branch meeting on May 26.

He reiterated Anak Negeri Ranau’s ful l suppor t and confidence for the PKR MP and hoped Jonathan as an MP and a federal minister can work with Anak Negeri for the benefit of the people of Sabah.

“We look forward to Jonathan being given a federal Cabinet position to bring development to Ranau, improve the socio economic well-being of the poor rural interior communities,” Henrynus said.

He said Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri had openly supported the PH manifesto for regime change before the general election. The party will continue to support PH at the federal level and play its role as a pressure group to ensure promises made by PH are kept.

Henrynus said Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri performed very badly during the 14th general election but accepted the fact voters in Sabah were focused on throwing out BN and they had spoken decisively to that effect.

“We are sad but we have no regret in spite of our election defeat as we can take pride of the fact our candidates fought a very tough general election with a very short preparation and with very limited resources.

He said the election outcome for Anak Negeri would have been different had Anak Negeri been accepted into the PH coalition in Sabah.

“But it is now history. We learn our lesson. The important thing is that BN is out of power for good and a new dawn has arrived for Malaysia. Anak Negeri is now focused on building the party based on a friendly relation with PH at the federal level,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Henrynus said Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri during its recent Supreme Council meeting on May 27 had unconditionally endorsed the party’s friendly relation with PH at the federal level in order to ensure the successful implementat ion of the PH election manifesto for Sabah and the achievement of the party’s five-point agenda for the people of Sabah.
