Miri MP starts neighbourhood watch with dedicated WhatsApp group
MIRI: Miri MP Dr Michael Teo has launched the Miri Neighbourhood Watch as a first step in serving the community.
His political secretary Voon Shiak Ni, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) national women vice- chief and Pakatan Harapan ( PH) national women chief for Sarawak affairs, said for a start, the committee members will go the ground to gather contacts for a WhatsApp group, which will also include the WhatsApp groups of the respective localities.
“For a start, we will be walking in your neighbourhood, so engage with us, feel safe to talk to us,” she said when announcing the Working Committee ( WC) at the office of the Miri MP for the Miri Neighbourhood Watch yesterday.
She said the office will serve as a platform for the people of Miri to channel their issues to the WC to be compiled and brought to the attention of the MP.
She further said that the neighbourhood watch will have a dedicated WhatsApp group for each locality.
“The WC will also be organising town hall sessions for the people to bring and share their concerns,” she said.
Information on the neighbourhood watch can be obtained from Dr Teo’s official Facebook page https://www. facebook.com/drmichaelteo.
The Miri MP welcomes any suggestions from the public through the official Facebook page.
The working committee members will be wearing PKR vests for the public to identify them.
