-

SARIKEI: Several government agencies here led by the Divisional Land and Survey Department will participate in a ‘Jiwa Murni’ programme to help a less fortunate family relocate their home from a squatters colony to a resettlement area.

According to a statement issued by the Divisional Land and Survey Department, the programme is scheduled to commence at 8.30 am today and ends by 4pm.

The agencies involved are Resident’s Office, District Office, Police, Public Works Department, Rural Water Supply Department, Sarawak Energy and local community leaders. They will help the family of Salmiah Hamden to relocate their house from Sungai Sarikei squatters’ colony to a housing lot provided by the government under Phase 4 of Kampung Sungai Sarikei Village Extension Resettlement Scheme.

The volunteers will help the family to dismantle their house and transport the useable materials like belian posts and planks to the housing lot, where the family is building a new house with fund approved under the Hardchore Poor Housing Programme ( PPRT)/People’s Housing Assistance Programme ( PBR).

Describing the programme as a social corporate responsibility ( SCR) of sorts, they believe their efforts would help lighten the burden of the family and hope their new house would be completed in time for the Hari Raya celebration.
