Sukma lawn bowl team ends exposure stint in Labuan today

KUCHING: The training cum exposure stint of the Sarawak Sukma XIX lawn bowls team in Labuan will end today.

According to Sarawak Lawn Bowls Associatio­n ( SALBA) president Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamed the training/exposure stint was part of the preparatio­ns for the 19th edition of Sukma in Perak from Sept 12-22.

Accompanyi­ng the athletes was experience­d national coach Zuraidi Puteh who guided the state team to success before.

While in Labuan, the state shadow team will play several friendly games with MAKSAK Labuan and Labuan Sukma squads.

“I hope with the presence of Zuraidi, we can return to our past glory days,” said Mahyan.

In the men’s squad are Mohd Iskandar Zulkarnain Sukardi, Abdul Rahman Aminuddin, Mohammad Amirul Hafizi Jaffar, Mohd Azhar Samara, Muhammad Ramadhan Mohamad Jeffy, Haniz Nur Hakim Mohamad Helmi and Mohamad Fitri Afiq Jamsari.

The women’s team comprise Sh Shaza Nisrina Mumtaz Wan Jemudin, Jamiah Hasbi, Nur Fitrah Rosmadi, Nur Fitri Rosmadi, Nur Fithri Aisya Hamdin, Fatin Izzati Mohamad Nizamri and Nina Hairani Nor Mohammad.

SALBA are targeting to win two golds in Perak with the focus on Women’s Fours and Women’s Doubles and the hopes are pinned on defending champions Nur Fithri Yaani, Nur Fithri, Jamiah and Sh Syaza Nisrina Mumtaz in the Fours and Nur Fithri and Sh Syaza Nisrina in the Doubles.
