Kpg Sudat upgrading works to be completed on schedule

-

KUCHING: The road and drainage upgrading project costing RM200,000 at Kampung Sudat here is expected to be completed soon.

Batu Kitang assemblyman and Padawan Municipal Council ( MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said the project includes upgrading a stretch of road measuring 300 metres and drain measuring 200 metres long.

Speaking to reporters after a site inspection yesterday, he said the project allocation came from the Rural Transformation Project ( RTP) fund.

According to Lo, the project commenced early last month and will take about four months to complete.

He admitted that the inspection was called due to several complaints lodged by the local residents.

He was quick to assure that the contractor of the project had pledged to implement the project as scheduled.

In an explanation, Lo said the project was a bit behind schedule because of the Gawai break early this month.

Calling for patience and understanding from the local community, he said it would take time for MPP to carry out most of the development projects given that the council faces financial constraint.

Due to the lack of fund, he said the council was left with little choice but to implement upgrading projects in stages.

As such, Lo hoped that the federal government could allocate more fund for MPP to carry out development projects for the people within its jurisdiction.
