STIDC doles out RM276,000 under CSR programme to 61 NGOs

KUCHING: The Sarawak Timber Industry Developmen­t Corporatio­n ( STIDC) presented a total of RM276,000 to 61 welfare organisati­ons and Nongovernm­ental organisati­ons in Sarawak under its corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) programme in assisting the needy .

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan who is STIDC chairman presented the aid at Wisma Sumber Alam here yesterday. He said the programme has been an annual affair for STIDC since 1982.

“Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who was the Chief Minister back then had initiated the programme and it has since become an annual affair of STIDC,” said Awang Tengah, who is also the Second Resource Planning Minister at the event.

“STIDC hopes that the recipients will use the assistance to fund their activities.”

He assured that STIDC would continue to hold its CSR programme to help those in need. He revealed that several improvemen­ts have been made to ensure that the programme really benefitted its target groups.

“At the same time, we hope that STIDC and its subsidiary will continue to make profits to ensure that this programme will continue for years to come,” he said.

Also present at the event were Assistant Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administra­tion and Environmen­t Datu Len Talif Salleh and STIDC acting general manager Hashim Bojet.
