PZhen Deelite Academy to run intensive 300-hour course
KUCHING: PZhen Deelite Academy of Sugarcraft and Confectionary Arts will hold an intensive 300-hour baking, cake decoration, and chocolate making course next month.
The three-month course – certified by Wilton USA, Swiss Chocolate Academy, Martellato Italy, and Edible Artist Global Academy Association priced at RM9,800 is limited to 10 students.
The course is suitable for those interested in baking or making desserts.
George W Germann – a pastry chef from Switzerland, who specialises in chocolate making and baking will teach European baking techniques.
Germann has 50 years’ experience and served as desserts master in luxury hotels in the United States and elsewhere.
“To become a first- class baker, you must have the basic skills, the foundation. This is important. Like a building, without a strong foundation, no matter how beautiful the building becomes, it can easily collapse at any time. This is what the students will be learning – to build a strong foundation,” the multiple awardwinner said in an interview recently.
“I have all my knowledge and experience. I need to keep on teaching to ensure that it doesn’t die out.”
Cake decorating instructor Tan Hui Chin will teach techniques such as fondant, sculpting, and 3D cake design.
“Many people learn how to bake cakes by watching videos on the Internet like YouTube, however, many skills and technique cannot be learned by watching videos and need instructors to guide them and learn the correct technique,” she said.
Asian Bakes chef Tay Kim Ling is the third experienced mentor.
The course topics will be ‘ The Art of Breads’ (100 hours), ‘The Art of Bakes and Pastries’ (90 hours), ‘ The Art of Chocolate – Basic’ (30 hours), and ‘The Art of Decorating Cakes’ (80 hours).
The deadline to register is the end of this month.
