Sibuti folk called on to have confidence in Sarawak government

-

MIRI: The rural constituents of Sibuti should continue to have strong confidence in the Sarawak government.

In stating this, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni says such commitment is needed for the Sarawak government to continue all the development programmes slated for the parliamentary constituency.

“The 14th general election (GE14) is over – let us move forward. The most important thing for us now is to stay focused and continue to have strong confidence in the leadership of the present ( Sarawak) government,” he spoke at a ‘buka puasa’ ( break- of- fast) gathering at Meritz Hotel here on Thursday, which also doubled as an appreciation dinner for the Sibuti election machinery for GE14.

Adding on, Lukanisman acknowledged that many rural folk here had yet to be able to accept the change in the government at federal level, but he also called upon cooler heads to prevail.

“Don’t let the current political scenario to take over our rational thinking. Now, it is the time for us to work together in bringing more developments to Sibuti.”

At the same time, the MP also called upon members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branches in Lambir and Bekenu to remain united and strive to fight for the people’s interests.

Moreover, he wanted the women’s wings of both PBB branches to recruit more young members to enhance party’s strength.

On the RM100,000 federal grant given to every opposition MP, Lukanisman expressed his gratitude and assured the rural folk that he would fully utilise the fund for continuous development in Sibuti.

Earlier, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat pledged to work hand in hand with Lukanisman on ways to develop Sibuti.

The gathering also hosted former Sibuti MP Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang, political secretaries to chief minister Julani Mokhtar and Sharkawi Suhaili, and PBB Piasau chairman Councillor Mohamad Sardon Zainal.
