Takaful Ikhlas, Adabi prepare bubur lambuk for UMMC community

KUCHING: In celebratio­n of the Ramadan month, Takaful Ikhlas Bhd (Takaful Ikhlas) and Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd (Adabi) have collaborat­ed together to cook and distribute 1,500 packets of free traditiona­l ‘bubur lambuk’ porridge to members of the University of Malaya medical centre (UMMC) and families under the purview of Inspirasi Mualaf, a nongovernm­ental organisati­on.

In the spirit of mutual cooperatio­n, Takaful Ikhlas employees together with volunteers and members of Adabi, UMMC and Inspiratio­n Mualaf worked together to undertake all the cooking and distributi­on activities for the event.

Commenting on event, Takaful Ikhlas’ president and chief executive officer, Datuk Ab Latiff said that the cooking and distributi­on activities of ‘bubur lambuk’ were aimed at bringing Takaful Ikhlas closer to the local community.

“This initiative by Takaful Ikhlas is a good responsibi­lity for us to have because it helps us not only fosters friendship within the community but also help provide the less fortunate with more access to this special porridge cooked by Adabi,” he said.

The second event of the day with Adabi was participat­ed by 15 Takaful Ikhlas employees along with volunteers from the Mualaf Insipirati­on and UMMC. At this event, Takaful Ikhlas also donated RM5,000 to Mualaf Insipirati­on.

As a caring corporate organisati­on, Takaful Ikhlas guided that corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) is an important aspect of their group, and that CSR activities such this are part their initiative to contribute back to communitie­s of Malaysia that have contribute­d greatly to the growth and success of Takaful Ikhlas.

Starting operations in 2003, Takaful Ikhlas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the public-listed company MNRB Holdings Bhd who is an investee company of Permodalan Nasional Bhd. On May 5, 2014, the Company changed its status to a public company.

Currently, Takaful Ikhlas has 13 regional offices, over 5,000 agents and over two million registered certificat­e policy holders.
